Hey Jimmy.

Yes, I totally recommend it as a good investment to go with the Rebel. The next step up is the Canon 50mm/1.4 at $400, so for 1/5th the cash the 50/1.8 is a great one to play with.

It is lightweight, so not as durable. However, that's one of the reasons I love it. I can bring it when I don't want a bulky camera on my shoulder. :)

The other prime lens I have is the Canon 85mm/1.8 which was around $400. A bit meatier and offers sharp portraits with amazing bokeh (blurred backgrounds). However, I am really satisfied with the 50mm/1.8 for uses like this post when I want something compact.

Looking forward to seeing some of your work!

Hey Michelle,

I'm a CA over in Middlebrook, and your pictures constantly show up on my Facebook livefeed.

I'm a huge fan of photography, and your work is nothing short of amazing. I've been thinking about getting a Canon 50mm f1.8 lens for my Rebel XT. Would you say that it's a pretty good investment?

I first saw your pictures on Alyssa's facebook, but I wanted to let you know that I think your pictures are amazing!

I'm in awe, I truly am. I'm a little bit of an aspiring photographer myself, more as a hobby though, but I can't take pictures of people. Your shots are great, and I really enjoy looking at them all.
